Bar­bara says farewell to Hall­side

Hall­side Pri­mary has said farewell to a pop­u­lar and long-stand­ing mem­ber of staff.

Bar­bara Har­ri­son had taught at the school for 28 years, and is now set to en­joy a well-earned re­tire­ment, hav­ing helped thou­sands of young­sters in her time at Hall­side.

She first started teach­ing in 1974, be­fore mov­ing to Hall­side in 1987, where she also took many of the af­ter-school clubs.

Head Teacher Gil­lian Rus­sell was full of praise for the long­stand­ing mem­ber of staff:“Bar­bara has been a loyal ser­vant of Hall­side for many years and she def­i­nitely brings added value.

“I’m sure we won’t re­alise just how much Bar­bara con­trib­utes un­til next year when, for the first time in 28 years, she won’t be there.

“We send her our best wishes for her re­tire­ment.”

In her time at Hall­side Bar­bara has also taken bas­ket­ball , football, science and scrip­ture union clubs as well as the drama club where she has been in­volved in 19 pro­duc­tions.

She has been a leader of learn­ing in Science across the whole of South La­nark­shire help­ing Hall­side gain the Pri­mary Science Qual­ity Mark.
