Leaf range extension
Nissan is planning to increase the range of its Leaf – the best selling electric car in the UK – by offering a larger 30kW battery from next year.
The extra battery capacity over the current 24kW unit will allow the car to cover around 150-160miles per full charge – up from the existing range of between 80 and 100 miles.
An all-new Leaf is planned for 2017 with further improvements and even more powerful batteries allowing the top models to get a range of around 250 miles.
It may well be that the next Leaf will also feature a range of engine options to attract buyers who have a need to cover larger distances.
