Same-sex fig­ures

New fig­ures show that there were 18 same sex mar­riages in South La­nark­shire dur­ing the first three months of 2015.

Same sex mar­riages came into ef­fect in De­cem­ber 2014.

The fig­ures were re­leased by Na­tional Records of Scot­land, and show there were also 112 op­po­site sex mar­riages in South La­nark­shire.

And the num­ber of births and deaths were also con­tained in the of­fi­cial fig­ures.

In South La­nark­shire there was a to­tal of 810 live births dur­ing the first three months of the year. That breaks down to 420 baby boys and 390 baby girls. There were three still­births dur­ing the pe­riod.

There was a to­tal of 1011 deaths dur­ing the first three months of 2015 – 439 males and 572 fe­males.

The mid-2013 pop­u­la­tion fig­ure was 314,850.

The num­bers for mid-2014 have just been re­leased and show a new fig­ure of 315,360 – with 151,790 males and 163,570 fe­males.That is an in­crease of 510 ( 0.2 per cent).
