Tool of the pros will aid your putting technique

It was back to the putting green this week as Duncan explained how to use a tool that is becoming popular with the pros.

The Dave Pelz putting tutor is simply a piece of metal with two ball bearings creating a gap for the ball.

The idea is to get the ball through the gap without moving either of the ball bearings.

If you don’t hit a pure putt, then you’ll know as the ball bearings will have come loose. It has also helped Duncan keep his putter straight through the shot.

Where it also comes in handy is for putting on a certain line. Set the tutor up along the line you want to take, even if it is well outside the hole, and the aid will help you hold that line as you putt rather than pushing or pulling the ball in the direction of the hole.

This is a method used by none other than Phil Mickleson, and he’s enjoyed a success or two in the past.

Mind the gap But if you hit the putt correctly, it will go through the gap and drop in the hole
