Whitefield celebrate trophy success
There were celebrations at Whitefield Bowling Club on Sunday when their top five scooped the prestigious Lanarkshire Bowling Association Millennium Singles trophy.
The quintet of Mark Law, Michael O’Hagan, Andy Stewart, Mark O’Hagan and Tam Devanny saw off the competition from Dalzell in a scintillating final at Newarthill Bowling Club on Sunday ( July 12).
Not even the intervention of an excitable pet could knock the lads off their stride.
They had to contend with Lilly the collie invading the green and scattering the bowls at one point.
Roared on by a passionate crowd who had travelled from Whitefield, the boys produced a dramatic comeback to clinch the prize.
Two down after the first two matches, the final three rallied to take the prize with a 3-2 victory.
A Whitefield spokesperson said: “Well done boys, the entire club are very proud of you.”
