Concern at school plans

Rutherglen Reformer - - Reformer View -

Although you could say I am not directly affected regarding the recent cuts to the school transport provision, my kids attend St Bride’s and Trinity, many of my friends and family are and I also have serious concerns about the potentially increased traffic around the schools.

We seem to be stuck in a never ending cycle of ‘Council blames - Holyrood blames - Westminster’ with nobody willing to take responsibility (but of course perfectly willing to take the plaudits for anything positive).

I wrote to all three of my councillors in the Cambuslang West Ward with only Richard Tullett replying and indeed meeting with us. I got no response from Clare McColl or Russell Clearie despite being a constituent and raising concerns about the increase of traffic around the schools in their ward. I chased them up and to date, still no reply.

Is it going to take for a serious accident before an ‘elected member’ stops playing politics with children? Mrs EA Callaghan via email.
