Knife of­fence

A Ruther­glen teenager ap­peared at court last week and ad­mit­ted pos­sess­ing a knife in a public place.

Jamie O’Brien ( 17) of Quar­rieknowe Drive, on De­cem­ber 3, pleaded guilty to a charge of pos­sess­ing of an of­fen­sive weapon, namely a lock back knife.

He was also ac­cused of be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing or abu­sive man­ner by shout­ing, swear­ing and re­fus­ing to de­sist and of steal­ing a latte drink, how­ever his plea of not guilty to both of these charges was ac­cepted.

Sen­tence was de­ferred un­til Jan­uary 25 for good be­hav­iour and he was or­dained to reap­pear.
