Show is murder
Rutherglen Rep prepare latest show
Rutherglen Rep will return to RutherglenTown Hall in September for their latest production.
The Murder Committee is written by Gerry McCartan and directed by David Chapman, two Rep veterans with 62 years experience between them at the Rep, while David will be taking a part in the show too.
This time they’ve come up with an entertaining murder mystery to be performed.
It’s a story focused around the dreaded end-of-season soiree for the committee of the Wellington Players Drama Group.
The usual mundane evening of wine, sausage rolls and banal chat is interrupted by the surprise appearance of the police, in the shape of Inspector Presley.
The reluctant detective is looking into a reported disturbance at a nearby house, and what appears to be a routine investigation takes an unexpected turn as, one by one, the secrets of the party guests are revealed.
After the Murder Committee, the Rep’s attention will turn to their Christmas pantomime, Little Miss Muffet.
They’ll be casting that one at the start of September and are looking for some new faces to take part in it.
The club rehearses in the Sky Bar on Rutherglen Main Street on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and there’s no experience needed for anyone to join.
The Murder Committee will run on Friday September 4 and Saturday September 5.
Tickets are £ 7 or £ 6 for concessions and are available from the Town Hall, by phoning 0141 613 5700, or online at www. sllcboxoffice.co.uk.
