A Ruther­glen woman ap­peared in court ac­cused of ob­tain­ing over £10,000 in ben­e­fits to which she was not en­ti­tled.

El­iz­a­beth An­der­son, of Bute Road, ap­peared on Tues­day ( Au­gust 4) at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court.

On Novem­ber 15, 2010, An­der­son (56), is ac­cused of mak­ing false rep­re­sen­ta­tions to South La­nark­shire Coun­cil on hous­ing ben­e­fit ap­pli­ca­tions, say­ing she lived alone, whereas she was al­legedly liv­ing in the prop­erty with some­one in full- time em­ploy­ment.She is ac­cused of ob­tain­ing £ 8207.32. On Novem­ber 13, 2010, An­der­son is ac­cused of mak­ing false rep­re­sen­ta­tions on coun­cil tax ben­e­fit ap­pli­ca­tions she was liv­ing alone and is ac­cused of ob­tain­ing £1898.09 in coun­cil tax ben­e­fit to which she was not en­ti­tled. On De­cem­ber 1, 2012 An­der­son is also ac­cused of mak­ing false rep­re­sen­ta­tions on em­ploy­ment and sup­port al­lowance ap­pli­ca­tions. She is ac­cused of gain­ing £3489.86 to which she was not en­ti­tled.

An­der­son pleaded not guilty and will re-ap­pear for trial on Au­gust 21.
