Summer break is making it tough
But Diane is battling on to shed weight
Cathkin woman Diane Hughes is closing in on her 50lbs weight loss target.
Earlier this year, the Reformer told the story of Diane Hughes, a single mother of four who always struggled with her weight - until now.
After years of yo yo-ing with her weight, she made the commitment to join a class, signing up with Lynda Kadegis’ Weight Watchers group in King’s Park, and has now lost 44lbs.
Diana admits it’s been a tough few weeks recently, as she has had her children, aged 16, eight, six and two, at home.
She said: “That’s 44lbs I’ve lost now, which is 12 more since I last featured in the Reformer. But it’s really tough just now with the children not at school, as I’ve got to put my life on hold. Right now, I’m having to fight for every single pound.
“I know I’ve still got a long way to go, and I was hoping to lose more, but sometimes, it’s just not possible.
“My motivation is definitely still there, and I’m doing the best I can, but with the kids around, it’s not as easy to exercise and go to the gym, which I’d normally do when they are at school. I’m not able to get the exercise I’d like to get, but I’m still following the eating plan, 100 per cent - it’s just the exercising that I’m struggling with just now.”
Lynda added: “Weight loss isn’t easy for Diane. But she wants this, and it is working for her.
“This is her time to change her life, and with her hard work and the support of our meeting she will definitely get to where she wants to be. ”
Diane concluded: “I’m working hard at it, and know there’s still a long way to go, but I know my goals are achievable with Lynda, who’s just such a great support.
“The weather being so rubbish isn’t helping either, making it harder to go out. I love my kids, but I’m looking forward to the schools going back!”
