Hall right now for Spittal

Rutherglen Reformer - - Memory Lane -

Thirty years of battling had paid off for Spittal residents back in 1985, as the first turf was cut on the site for their new community hall. Regional councillor Tommy McAvoy and District councillor Robert Brown were on hand to start the work on the hall.

Attempts to get the hall built had been ongoing since the 1950s, and been held up by a host of problems.

Now it was hoped the hall would be open within a year.
