Youth ac­cused of try­ing to spit on a cop

A Blair­beth teenager ap­peared at court yesterday ac­cused of as­sault­ing a fe­male po­lice of­fi­cer.

Ryan Brady ( 16) , of Up­per­bourtree Drive, ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court.

On Jan­uary 25, at Princes Gate in Ruther­glen, Brady is ac­cused of be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing and abu­sive man­ner, likely to cause a rea­son­able per­son to suf­fer fear or alarm, by shout­ing, swear­ing and ut­ter­ing threats.

At Princes Gate and dur­ing the course of a jour­ney to Cath­cart Po­lice Sta­tion, Brady is ac­cused of hin­der­ing po­lice con­sta­bles whilst in the ex­e­cu­tion of their duty by vi­o­lently lash­ing out with his body weight and legs.

Whilst in the rear of a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle at Burn­hill Street, Brady is also ac­cused of as­sault­ing a fe­male po­lice con­sta­ble by at­tempt­ing to spit on her.

Brady pleaded not guilty and the case will con­tinue to trial on Septem­ber 9.

Bail was con­tin­ued.
