Charges of thefts from cars

A Croft­foot teenager ap­peared at court ac­cused of steal­ing and at­tempt­ing to steal items from cars through­out Ruther­glen.

Peter John Smith­son, of Crofthill Road, ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on Mon­day.

On March 2, at Mel­rose Av­enue, Smith­son (19), is ac­cused of en­ter­ing an un­se­cured ve­hi­cle and at­tempt­ing to steal items from within.

He is also ac­cused, on March 3, of en­ter­ing an un­se­cured ve­hi­cle on Lime­side Av­enue and at­tempt­ing to steal items from within.

And on March 3, on Et­trick Cres­cent, he is ac­cused of en­ter­ing an un­se­cured mo­tor ve­hi­cle and steal­ing a quan­tity of tools and money from within.

On March 3 at Main Street, he is ac­cused of be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing and abu­sive man­ner by shout­ing, swear­ing and ut­ter­ing threats.

Smith­son main­tained a plea of not guilty and is due to re-ap­pear at court on Au­gust 31.

Mean­time, bail was con­tin­ued on the ac­cused.
