Get on track at Cuningar Loop

Res­i­dents in Ruther­glen will get their first taste of Cuningar Loop later this month with the first of three taster ses­sions tak­ing place.

On Sun­day, Au­gust 23, from 12pm to 4pm, the park’s bike skill park will be open for the public to use.

The bike skills park has been de­signed for moun­tain bik­ing, BMX and dirt jump bikes and will ac­com­mo­date en­try-level cy­clists and skilled users. It fea­tures four tracks: a bal­ance track, be­gin­ners’ track, im­provers’track and pump track for ad­vanced cy­clists.

That will be fol­lowed by fur­ther events at the boul­der­ing park on Sun­day, Au­gust 30 and the ad­ven­ture play and arts area on Sun­day, Septem­ber 20.

For­est En­ter­prise Scot­land’s pro­ject man­ager for Cuningar Loop, Joneen Clarke can’t wait for the event and said:“We want to give lo­cal peo­ple and visi­tors the chance to en­joy a first peek of this ex­cit­ing new park be­fore it’s fin­ished and fully opens in spring next year.

“Peo­ple will be able to come and try out the Ac­tiv­ity Zone and see the park as it is tak­ing shape.

“We’re ex­cited for peo­ple to see it – they’re go­ing to love it!”
