Hoop dreams on offer for teens
A South Lanarkshire basketball group who regularly hold classes in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are looking for new volunteers to join their coach and volunteer pathway.
The aim of the project is to give a young person, aged between 16 and 24, the opportunity to gain work experience, qualifications, mentor support and a reference with the aim of helping them reach a positive destination.
It is funded by the Scottish Government’s People & Communities Fund and Sported.
Each participant will be expected to volunteer two hours a week at one of the programme’s basketball development academies, and help out with other programmes.
By the end of the course the participants will have gained 13 new qualifications, as well as increased confidence.
Reach For The Sky Basketball has recently been active over the summer, holding classes in both Rutherglen and Cambuslang and getting youngsters involved more in the sport.
