A twisted thief made off with a Cam­bus­lang cou­ple’s jew­ellery be­fore their very eyes, as they re­turned home to find a stranger at the back of their house, who claimed he’d spot­ted the thief and was in­ves­ti­gat­ing it.

The num­ber of peo­ple in­jured on roads in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang had dra­mat­i­cally de­creased thanks to speed cam­eras.

A spe­cial fundraiser was to be held by Mother­well football club in aid of a Ruther­glen young­ster with cere­bral palsy who had his walk­ing frame stolen.
