Friend’s tribute to Indycar driver who died this week
Stevan McAleer has paid an emotional tribute to Indycar driver Justin Wilson who died this week.
The 37-year-old died from head injuries sustained when he was hit by a large piece of debris that broke off a car in a crash-filled race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday.
Rutherglen racer Stevan first spent a night out with Justin back in 2007, and recalled that in a Facebook post this week. He wrote: “RIP Justin Wilson. “We all know the dangers of Motorsports and the adrenaline rush and excitement of the open cockpit as one of the reasons why we love this sport so much but still a very sad day indeed.
“Had an insane night with him and Chris Knox back in Cleveland in 2007 (see if I can find the pictures) when I ran the Skip Barber National Series. You will be missed my friend.”
