Glens win fiery affair over Vale

Glencairn recorded a 3-2 win over Vale of Clyde in their third game in the sectional league cup.

It proved a fiery affair, with Glens finishing the match with 10 men and Vale only nine.

Vale went in at half- time leading through Kevin Hamill’s 34th minute strike.

The scores were level in the 49th minute when Mark Tait headed Adam Niscanci’s cross into the net.

Vale were back in front when Dunnachie fouled Gavin Ross in the box and the former Glens man made no mistake from the spot.

Two goals in a minute, however, turned the game on its head.

First Fraser’s perfect cross was met on the volley by David Dunnachie to make it 2-2.

And just a minute later Tait nodded the ball into the path of Batchelor, who fired home.

Tensions finally boiled over in the 76th minute when Ross dived into a dangerous challenge and players from both sides reacted angrily.

Once the referee had restored order – after some serious whistling – straight red cards were produced for Ross and Buckley of Vale and Batchelor of Glencairn.
