Walk for In­ter­na­tional Lit­er­acy Day

Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang res­i­dent s a re be­ing in­vited to ‘Walk a Mile for Lit­er­acy’.

The Com­mu­nity Learn­ing and Home School Part­ner­ship Ser­vice of South La­nark­shire Coun­cil are hold­ing a walk in Cam­bus­lang next Tues­day ( Septem­ber 8) to mark In­ter­na­tional Lit­er­acy Day.

At­ten­dees will walk one mile around Cam­bus­lang. Along the way res­i­dents will find out what it feels like to be con­fused by in­for­ma­tion.

More than one in five Scots strug­gle with read­ing, writ­ing or num­bers.

The aim of the event is to cre­ate aware­ness of the chal­lenges these peo­ple face in ev­ery day life.

Any­one who wishes to at­tend should meet at 1.30pm out­side Cam­bus­lang Li­brary.
