Car crash in Halfway
A section of street in Cambuslang was wrecked after a car accident on Saturday morning.
Police were called to the incident on Hamilton Road at around 11am, just outside Halfway Library, where Rutherglen MP Margaret Ferrier was holding her surgery.
A section of street barrier was knocked away by the car, which was left badly damaged.
Margaret said:“The scenes on Saturday morning were quite shocking, and I’m incredibly thankful there were no serious injuries.
“The emergency services are to be commended on their quick response and the way in which the situation was handled when they arrived on the scene.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed that a 33-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with careless driving and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
