New re­cruits wanted for Chil­dren’s Panel

Chil­dren’s Hear­ings Scot­land has kick- started the search for new Chil­dren’s Panel mem­bers by ap­peal­ing to Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang peo­ple to come for­ward.

The Chil­dren’s Panel, which is unique to Scot­land, im­proves out­comes for trou­bled or at risk chil­dren and young peo­ple who are in need of care or who have of­fended.

Chil­dren’s Hear­ings Scot­land is­sued the call for new vol­un­teers in South La­nark­shire to help fill the 560 panel roles needed na­tion­ally in 2016 as its six-week re­cruit­ment cam­paign got un­der way.

There are cur­rently 2500 vol­un­teer panel mem­bers across Scot­land.

How­ever, new re­cruits from a range of back­grounds are needed each year.

An in­for­ma­tion evening will be held at 7pm on Septem­ber 9 in the Cor­po­rate Din­ing Room, Coun­cil Of­fices, Al­mada Street in Hamil­ton.

Ap­pli­cants need to be 18 or over. The dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tions is Septem­ber 30, 2015.
