Car­dle takes over at St Joseph’s

A Ruther­glen man has been ap­pointed as the new head teacher at an Ayr­shire school.

Dan Car­dle took over the run­ning at St Joseph’s Academy in Kil­marnock last week.

A grad­u­ate of Glas­gow Univer­sity and St. An­drew’s Col­lege of Ed­u­ca­tion, he started his teach­ing ca­reer in 1990, as a Maths teacher in St Columba’s in Cly­de­bank.

His ca­reer has taken him to a num­ber of schools, i n c l u d i n g Hol y rood Sec­ondary.

Most re­cently he was de­pute head at St Ninian’s High School in Kirk­in­til­loch, a post he held for 10 years.

Mr Car­dle said: “Work­ing in a num­ber of dif­fer­ent schools in dif­fer­ent de­mo­graphic ar­eas, un­der dif­fer­ent lead­ers, has given me the ex­pe­ri­ence to take on the role as Head Teacher at this pres­ti­gious school and I’m look­ing for­ward to the task im­mensely.

“My main aim is to make sure we are meet­ing the needs of all of our pupils, no mat­ter what their back­ground or aca­demic abil­ity and I’m aware I can­not do this on my own.”
