A mother’s plea:
Don’t let more drugs users die like my Pauline
A Rutherglen mum whose tragic daughter lost her life to heroin hopes her story can stop other families enduring the pain she has.
Margaret Donatello’s life was ripped apart on August 10, 1999, when police called at her Main Street home to break the news that 19-year-old Pauline had been found
dead in a close.
She was shocked this week after learning the number of people dying from drugs in Scotland had reached a record high.
Margaret said: “I thought figures were at their highest the year Pauline lost her life. I thought the trend was going down but it seems to be getting worse.
“I can’t help but think about the parents going through what happened to me.”
