Glimpse into local history
Rugolnians are being offered the chance to have a glimpse in to the town’s history this weekend.
As part of Doors Open Days, which takes place throughout Scotland, Rutherglen Heritage Society is letting people see some of the ancient Boundary Stones which marked the boundary of the ancient Royal Burgh of Rutherglen
They are holding an exhibition of their research into the history of the stones at 84 Cambuslang Road (next to Flemings Carpets Warehouse) on Saturday, September 12, from 11 am to 4pm, and on Sunday, September 13, from 1pm to 4pm. There will also be a guided walk.
Other sites in Rutherglen which are taking part in Doors Open Days are Rutherglen Library which is offering tours of the library building on Saturday, September 12. For more information contact the library on 0141 613 5380.
Rutherglen Old Parish Church will be open for members of the public from 10am to noon on Saturday, September 12 and also from noon to 4pm on Sunday, September 13.
