Cathkin Braes are the current defending champions, having been one of the original 28 clubs who contest what has become known as “The Greenlees”.

To mark the special anniversary, Cathcart Castle Golf Club are hosting a special Greenlees Anniversary Tri Am on Saturday, September 19.

Jean Smith, Ladies Handicap Secretary at Cathcart, said: “Mrs Greenlees’ purpose in starting the league was to give club players, especially the younger ones, greater experience in playing competitive matchplay golf.” Born in Glasgow in 1902, Ysobel learned her golf at Prestwick St Nicholas, and became Club Champion at age 25.

She became West of Scotland Champion in 1932.

She also represented Britain at international level and was known as a vivacious, powerful golfer.” She died in 1996.
