Primary school is honoured
Cathkin Primary School in Rutherglen has become the latest school to receive recognition as a ‘ rights respecting school’.
It is one of a vast array of awards and achievements won by children and schools across South Lanarkshire in the past year.
Around 300 young people from schools and nurseries attended the annual Education Awards at Hamilton Town House recently.
Duke of Edinburgh Gold awards were also achieved by 12 young people.
Councillor Brian McKenna, depute chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Education Resources Committee, said: “The Education Awards are a wonderful event and let everyone know about the achievements of our young people which are both amazing and inspiring.
“It showcases the positive impact they make in their schools and wider communities.
“We are also very grateful to the hard work and commitment our teachers show to support children’s learning, encourage them to aim high and always try their best.”
