“Every penny they raise supports great work in Scotland and no matter who crosses the finish line first, they are already fundraising heroes.”

BBC Children in Need is the Bank of Scotland’s Charity of the Year for 2015 and 2016 and the Great Scottish Run is a highlight of the fundraising year.

Starting in George Square, the course features famous venues from last year’s Commonwealth Games as well as taking runners across the River Clyde, through Pollok Park and Bellahouston Park before heading back for the grandstand finish on Glasgow Green.

Gary grew up in Castlemilk and attended Castlemilk High before persuing his dream of becoming an actor.

He got his big break when he landed the role of Robbie Fraser in the BBC soap River City back in 2009.

As hairdresser Robbie he’s been involved in some of the soap’s most explosive plots, from suffering domestic abuse at the hands of his partner to attempting to adopt a child.

Gary’s also appeared in various other productions, including a panto stint at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow.
