Castlemilk actor Gary Lamont is set to get his running gear on for a good cause.
The River City star, who plays Robbie Fraser in the Shieldinch soap, will be trying to raise money for BBC Children in Need in this year’s Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run.
He’ll be taking part in the run alongside his colleague Jordan Young.
The event takes place on Sunday, October 4 in Glasgow and the actor is keen to get involved, even though he admits he’s not a runner.
He said: “I’m thrilled to pull on my trainers for such a brilliant cause as BBC Children in Need although the thought of running alongside Jordan is terrifying – the man’s a whippet I tell you!
“Jordan will be first over the finishing line without a doubt so I’ll look forward to him cheering me on with a glass of fizz to celebrate.”
Jordan, who plays Alex McAllister on the show, added: “I do a bit of running so I’m absolutely delighted to be able put it to good use.
“As a father I cherish my child and am delighted to support BBC Children in Need in its work supporting disadvantaged children and young people.”
“My other overriding motivation is to be so much faster than Gary that I’m showered, dressed and drink in hand by the time he crosses the finishing line!”
Mary Duffy, National Head, BBC Children in Need Scotland, said: “We’re delighted that Gary Lamont and Jordan Young are fundraising for BBC Children in Need helping us fund fantastic organisations all across the country.
“River City has a long tradition of supporting us and it’s great to see Gary and Jordan pull on their running shoes
