The Cathkin High School annual P7 Sports Festival took place last Wednesday and Thursday .

The mini sports festival welcomed primary seven pupils from local schools to experience a taste of Cathkin High’s PE department.

As part of a team, they took part in various activities including badminton, basketball, fitness and volleyball.

Youngsters also had the opportunity to work with pupils from different primary schools, all of whom will be heading to Cathkin High at the end of the school year.

The pupils spent the morning of each day trying new activities and being assisted by the PE department in a friendly competition.

On Thursday evening, pupils were invited back to the school along with their parents.

They were given the opportunity to speak to various members of staff about different subjects and were given a tour of the school by some of the senior pupils in Cathkin.

Pupils from S2 helped out the PE department and collected quotes from the primary pupils.

The P7s commented that it was great meeting lots of people from different schools, that the events were amazing and they can’t wait to come up to High School.

They enjoyed every activity and found it really interesting to try out new sports.

Mrs Levey, a depute at Cathkin High School, was thrilled with how smoothly the two events and the Parents Information evening had gone.

She said: “These kind of days at the school are invaluable, not only to get a feel for the school itself but also to meet new people and to see the teachers before the big change up to High school.

“I would like to thank all the teachers and staff members who made the P7 visits so unique”.
