Victory for Craig in the home of golf
Cambuslang golf star Craig Ross held off a host of talented golfers last week to win the individual prize at the University of Stirling International Students’ Tournament.
Craig (22), who won a Europro event as an amateur last year, lifted the individual men’s prize at the Dukes Course in St Andrew’s.
He finished his three rounds on one under par, pipping Stirling student Marco Iten, who is from Switzerland, by one shot.
A clutch par putt on the final hole gave him victory.
His win also helped the Scottish Golf Union Select team to victory over the university side for the second successive year.
Kirkhill golfer Craig is currently ranked 24th on the Scottish Golf Union order of merit, despite only playing six tournaments all year.
Last year, he tasted victory over a field of professionals at the Glenfarclas Open at the Earl of Mar course.
He produced three stunning rounds to take the title, firing 63, 67 and 64 to finish three clear of fellow Kirkhill member Paul Shields and Northern Irishman Jonathan Caldwell.
