Rutherglen Lawn Tennis Club have rounded off one of their most successful seasons ever.

The club, who meet on View Park Drive, have had success in both the double, gents and ladies divisions.

Last month they won Division Two of the Clydesdale Cup, an annual mixed-doubles knock-out competition beating Bishopton in the final.

And their Ladies First Team won the West of Scotland Division four Summer Championship and promotion to Division Three. This extends an astonishing run of three consecutive league titles and promotions.

And the fantastic progress of the Ladies First Team has spilled over to their Ladies Second and Third Teams who secured second successive promotions and will both play in Division Five next year.

Their Gents teams have matched the Ladies every step of the way. The Gents First Team won Division One of the Spring League and will play in the Premier

next season.

They continued their fantastic run by securing runners-up spot in Division 1/2 of the Summer Leagues and a promotion play- off versus Whitecraigs Second Team which they won emphatically to secure their place in Division 1/1 for 2016.

President of the club Gareth Ellor said: “This oncourt success is a symptom of the phenomenal growth and development of the club as a whole over the last few years.

“Having grown from 100 to 230 members in four years, we now have a much bigger membership and hence a larger pool of players, many of whom are benefiting from the fantastic work of our new head coach Jonathan Willcox.

“He continues to build a superb coaching programme that offers something for all ages and abilities.”
