Com­mu­nity Links are invit­ing the public to their an­nual gen­eral meet­ing to­day ( Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 23), at Hill­house and Earnock Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.

It will be an op­por­tu­nity for res­i­dents to find out what the or­gan­i­sa­tion has been do­ing over the last year.

One of the projects you will hear about is ‘Se­lect’, which is run by vol­un­teers and helps peo­ple im­prove their IT skills through job searches, fi­nan­cial and wel­fare ser­vices and per­sonal learn­ing.

Some of the hubs – one of which runs from the Whit­law­burn Com­mu­nity Re­source Cen­tre on Mon­days be­tween 10am and 4pm - can have up to 25 clients at­tend­ing each day. Com­mu­nity Links also run a num­ber of food coops, in­clud­ing ones based in Whit­law­burn and Fern­hill, of­fer­ing fresh pro­duce to the com­mu­nity at af­ford­able prices.
