New no park­ing zone

A stretch of road in Ruther­glen Main Street is to be­come a no park­ing zone.

South La­nark­shire Coun­cil are in­tro­duc­ing dou­ble yel­low lines at 395 Main Street.

From Novem­ber 2 no- one will be able to park at any time on the street east or west of that ad­dress for 45 me­tres.

Driv­ers will still be al­lowed to drop off and pick up pas­sen­gers and off­load per­sonal lug­gage. Dis­abled driv­ers’ ve­hi­cles which are not caus­ing an ob­struc­tion and dis­play­ing a valid blue badge are also ex­empt from the park­ing re­stric­tions.

South Lana rk s h i re Coun­cil’s head of Roads and Trans­portat i o n , Gor­don Mackay, said: “The park­ing re­stric­tions are be­ing pro­posed for the road junction which pro­vides ac­cess to the shel­tered hous­ing at 395 to 417 Main Street, Ruther­glen.

“The park­ing re­stric­tions will pro­hibit ve­hi­cles park­ing within the im­me­di­ate prox­im­ity of the junction im­prov­ing vis­i­bil­ity for ve­hi­cles ex­it­ing the shel­tered hous­ing com­plex.”
