Pa r ent s in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area who have the gift of the gab are looking forward to the next ‘Wee Blether.’

The Camglen 21st Century Families Group, which was launched in 2011, encourages parents in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area to get together, network and swap ideas.

The group is hosting its next ‘Wee Blether’ event at Rutherglen Library between 1 and 4pm on Thursday, November 19.

The event is aimed at parents with children aged up to eight, although everyone is invited to attend.

Partner agencies, such as Police Scotland, health charities and community and school-based organisations are represented at stalls at a Wee Blether get-together.

“People have told us at previous events that they did not realise how much there is going on in the local area,” said home school partnership worker Karen Brodie.

“Until the Wee Blether, for example, many people thought libraries were just for borrowing books. They were not aware of the extent of classes for children and things such as the heritage centre.”

Those who attended a previous Wee Blether event told 21st Century Families: “It is great to see so many enthusiastic and knowledgeable people.”

Other comments include: “Very informative and well organised,” and “Well done all partners for making our community better.”
