Rutherglen Reformer - - News from the Pews -

Rutherglen Community Council claimed that the area had been Glasgow’s‘dumping ground’for too long as planning permission was finally sought for a landfill site on Cathkin Braes.

Mounting fears over toxic waste led to a public meeting being planned to discuss the concerns.

Concern was raised over growing numbers of‘winos’who were congregating in Rutherglen Main Street and getting in the way of pedestrians.

District council bosses were forced to defend their position on providing accommodation for homeless people, following a row over what was available.

After nine months being closed due to flooding issues, Rutherglen train station was back in business as the Argyll line re-opened.
