Stevan a point clear going into final race
Rutherglen race ace Stevan McAleer will take the most slender of leads into the final round of the IMSA Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge.
Former Stonelaw pupil and his team-mate, Chad McCumbee, finished second in their class at the Circuit of Americas in Texas at the weekend.
That was enough to take them a point clear of nearest challenger, Andrew Carbonell.
They will now look to take the title when they arrive at Road Atlanta next weekend.
The occasion was all the more special for Stevan as he was watched by his brother Sam, who was there as part of the Forzafuel Challenge in which he finished 10th having won through from a total of 250,000 entrants in the simulator race.
Stevan said:“It’s going to be a close fight, that’s for sure. It’s going down to the wire.
“Yeah, we go in with confidence. We need to be on our game and carry the momentum we have right now.
“Saturday with Sam was great. He finished 10th out of 20 but the competiton had 250,000 entrants, so it was insane.
“It was great to see him and my mum.”
