Coun­cil agree weather ser­vice

South La­nark­shire Coun­cil are to take the lead in a re-con­sti­tuted weather forecast part­ner­ship with 12 other author­i­ties.

Coun­cil­lors yesterday (Tues­day) agreed to con­tinue the part­ner­ship up un­til May 2022.

SLC will take the lead in pro­cure­ment of the forecast ser­vice, man­age the ser­vice con­tract and be re­spon­si­ble for per­form­ing the obli­ga­tions of the part­ner­ship.

The ini­tial part­ner­ship was set up in 2003. The move will cost the coun­cil £40,000 a year but weather sta­tion up­grad­ing is ex­pected to be paid for by the new ser­vice provider.

The other author­i­ties in­volved will be; Ar­gyll and Bute, Dumfries and Gal­loway, East Ayr­shire, East Dun­bar­ton­shire, East Ren­frew­shire, Glas­gow, In­ver­clyde, North Ayr­shire, North La­nark­shire, Ren­frew­shire, South Ayr­shire and West Dun­bar­ton­shire.
