Kilbryde to mark hospice week
South Lanarkshire’s Kilbryde Hospice is joining with Hospice UK to celebrate Hospice Care Week, from this Monday until Sunday, October 11.
The theme for the week is “Connecting Care” and although in its infancy, Kilbryde Hospice is already making connections with health care professionals, communities, schools and churches throughout Lanarkshire.
The hospice, in the grounds of Haimryres Hospital, is open for day services and patients with a life limiting illness can call in Monday to Friday. In addition, anyone who feels they need a bit of advice or a “listening ear” are very welcome to the drop-in area.
The hospice team have also recently made connections with the Citizens Advice Bureau and they will now hold a monthly one-stop advice shop on the first Monday of each month from 1pm to 3pm.
All of these connections are being made while the team await the opening of the inpatient unit. Hopes are high this will be in the near future as the hospice moves closer to registration with HealthCare Improvement Scotland.
Celebrations for Hospice Care Week include The Kilbryde Hospice Big Sing on Monday, October 5, from 2pm to 3pm, and on Thursday, October 8, there will be an afternoon cream tea, 1pm to 4pm, when all are invited to help raise funds.
