Fernhill school do their bit to help

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

Pupils at Fernhill school in Rutherglen showed their Christian side when they pooled forces with their local community to collect much needed clothing for Syrian refugees.

The school, inspired by their S6 Charity prefect, Olivia McAdams, joined the campaign launched by SCIAF and Glasgow the Caring City, to send clothes to the Balkan region for those refugees who have fled to the area from Syria.

Head teacher Dr Murphy, said: “I was overwhelmed by the servant leadership demonstrated by Olivia in her quest for the school to help the people of Syria in their hour of need and equally delighted by the response our pupils and the local community made to the appeal.

“On the day over 150 bags of clothes were packed tightly into a transit van ready for their onward journey to those in need. Fernhill school is a relatively small school but once again we have shown that we have a huge heart.”
