Cathkin kids do­ing their bit for hos­pice

Mrs Hill, team leader of the ex­pe­di­tion, was thrilled with the fundrais­ing abil­i­ties of the pupils in S2.

She said:“This year, the pupils have ex­celled them­selves and have raised a stag­ger­ing £2991.75.

“This event is now in its sev­enth year with the pupils from Cathkin High hav­ing raised over £12,000 for St An­drew’s Hos­pice.”

The top fund-rais­ers in­cluded Re­becca Stewart in 2K2 who raised a whop­ping £155 and So­phie Best­wick, in 2M1, who raised an amaz­ing £142.62.

“Well done to all pupils and staff who took part.”

School li­ai­son of­fi­cer Lucy Kil­lean thanked Cathkin pupils for their ef­forts.

St An­drew’s Hos­pice is an Air­driebased in­de­pen­dent char­ity pro­vid­ing care and treat­ment for those liv­ing with life- threat­en­ing ill­nesses.

It pro­vides a free ser­vice for adults in North and South La­nark­shire and strives to meet the needs of all, re­gard­less of re­li­gious, cul­tural and eth­nic back­ground.

In April of this year, St An­drew’s launched an £8mil­lion cap­i­tal ap­peal to re­con­fig­ure and re­fur­bish the hos­pice to make it fit for the fu­ture.
