Pa­tri­cia meets up with Hol­ly­wood star

In­ter­na­tional ac­tor signs up for char­ity ap­peal

For­mer Burn­side woman Pat r i c i a Os­borne found her­self hob­nob­bing with the stars re­cently.

Pa­tri­cia, who used to be a coun­cil­lor in the area, is the chief ex­ec­u­tive of the Brit­tle Bone So­ci­ety, a char­ity who sup­port peo­ple with os­teo­ge­n­e­sis im­per­fecta.

And she was de­lighted to se­cure Hol­ly­wood ac­tor Brian Cox to de­liver the char­ity’s BBC Char­ity Ap­peal which was broad­cast on Sun­day, Septem­ber 27.

Pa­tri­cia met with the ac­tor in March this year to work with him on the script for the char­ity ap­peal.

The char­ity just aired the first of their BBC Ra­dio 4 char­ity ap­peals – with a re­peat due this Thurs­day. They also re­cently en­joyed a bit of ex­po­sure on BBC Coun­try­file show­cas­ing the BBC Chil­dren in Need call to the na­tion to get out ram­bling on Oc­to­ber 10 and 11.

Pa­tri­cia said “It was amaz­ing to re­ceive the sup­port and back­ing from such a big in­ter­na­tional ac­tor.

“This great step for­ward comes just af­ter we se­cured a very pres­ti­gious ad­di­tion to our trustee board in nam­ing Pro­fes­sor Faisal Ahmed who cur­rently works at the new South Glas­gow Hos­pi­tal, to join the trustee board.

“Pro­fes­sor Ahmed is in­ter­na­tion­ally renowned in his field of re­search and has long been a sup­porter of the work of the char­ity.

“The char­ity couldn’t be busier at present and are re­cruit­ing staff to man­age their in­creas­ing work­load.”
