New strips can’t steer Glens kids to victory

Rutherglen Glencairn’s Under-16s was the only one of the Glens sides to take to the field last weekend.

With the September weekend putting paid to most fixtures, the young Glens were left flying the black-and-white flag.

Sadly, they would lose out 5-3 to Glenbrae Colts.

Star of the show for the young Glens was Shawn Cunningham, who was unlucky to be on the losing side after bagging a hat-trick.

The youngsters were playing in their new strips, sponsored by Arnold Clark.

Glencairn run three youth teams on top of their Under-21 side after entering into a partnership with Croftfoot United.

Glencain Juniors first-team coach Willie Harvey previously said:“I keep my eye on it through verbal communication through Robert Fox and Alex McArthur.

“Robert keeps me up to speed with the young lads and if I get the chance on a Sunday I’ll go along and watch them.

“Every month we’ll get together and have a wee chat.

“I’m more than happy with things with all the teams.“

“We’re all doing well.”
