Police issue winter warning
As we head towards winter, police in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are warning drivers not to make their vehicles easy targets.
Despite the sun shining this week, the cooler mornings are upon us and police say it’s important drivers don’t get caught out.
Chief inspector Pat O’Callaghan said: “The colder mornings will begin to start soon, so please don’t fall into the trap of defrosting your car and leaving the keys in the ignition while you go back inside to get ready for work.
‘This is still a common habit that some fall into, and for the unlucky few it can also end up being a costly one.
“Allow that extra 10 minutes in the morning to defrost your car and don’t leave your vehicle unattended. Please also take 10 minutes to check your vehicle is fit for winter by answering these questions: Are your lights working? Do you have screen wash? Do you have a small emergency supply (water, blankets, nonperishable food) if you get stuck in adverse weather?
“These are all worthwhile questions you should be asking yourself as winter comes in.”
