Grants handed to groups
Area’s happy dozen
Members of the Cambuslang and Rutherglen Area Committee this week approved the following community grant applications:
Cambuslang Parish Church - £200 for an outing.
First Springhall Brownies - £300 for an outing, entrance fees and materials.
Young at Heart Senior Club, Cambuslang - £400 for an outing admin costs and materials.
Clydeford View Lunch and Social Club, Cambuslang - £300 for equipment.
Whitefield Bowling and Recreation Club - £ 300 for equipment.
Cathcart Road Orchard and Bellscroft - £200 for an outing.
Rutherglen Community Carers - £250 for an outing and entrance fees.
Cambuslang and Rutherglen Unemployed Art Club - £1000 for an outing, admin costs, equipment and materials.
Overton Tenants and Residents Association, Cambuslang - £450 for an outing, equipment and materials.
Cambuslang District Voluntary Care Club - £ 400 for specialist transport and entrance fees.
Cathkin Braes Playscheme - £250 for an outing and entrance fees.
The Daniel Sands Organ Research Trust, Rutherglen - £250 for startup costs.
The council operates a community grants scheme to support local constituted community groups and voluntary organisations. Applications are invited continually throughout the year.
So far in 2015/16, the committee has approved £ 16,598 worth of grants from £45,000.
