Kirkhill

Mem­bers of Kirkhill bowl­ing club en­joyed a Sports­man’s Din­ner and an ex­tra week’s bowl­ing played dur­ing day­light hours.

The event, or­gan­ised by mem­bers Ron­nie Wil­son and Billy Lock­hart , was held on Fri­day night and proved to be a great suc­cess.

Guy Miller was the MC and he in­tro­duced Sandy Strang and Lyn­d­say Wood as the speak­ers .

Around 100 mem­bers and guests at­tended and had a great night, en­joy­ing the re­fresh­ments served up by Sam, Julie and Lisa in the bar.

Char­lie Lamont and Ron­nie Wil­son did a great job with the raf­fle and mem­bers were pleased to see three new mem­bers, Brian Gal­lagher, John Coubrough and Jim Walker among the many raf­fle win­ners.

The raf­fle was pos­si­ble be­cause of the gen­er­ous do­na­tions of mem­bers and guests for which the club is grate­ful.

At the close, John O’Brien pro­posed the vote of thanks to the or­gan­is­ers, speak­ers, Wil­lie McCal­lum and his lo­cal cater­ers from Cam­bus­lang, the bar staff, com­mit­tee mem­bers and duty di­rec­tors, raf­fle do­na­tors and the au­di­ence who made a great night pos­si­ble.

The club has a prize­giv­ing on Oc­to­ber 31 and the Christ­mas cabaret is con­firmed for Satur­day De­cem­ber 19. The greens are now closed for the sea­son . Cam­bus­lang

Satur­day saw Cam­bus­lang Bowl­ing Club en­joy their Gents prize­giv­ing cabaret evening.

The star of the evening was mem­ber Craig Jamieson, who this year, won four sin­gle handed tour­na­ments: Cham­pi­onship, Pres­i­dents, Boyd & Hand­i­cap.

Cabaret was pro­vided by lo­cal White­field BC Past Pres­i­dent , Andy Stewart who along with his daugh­ter pro­vided ex­cel­lent en­ter­tain­ment with their disco and singing.

The prize­giv­ing cer­e­mony was con­ducted by Di­rec­tor Alan John­ston and Past Pres­i­dent Jim Low with Pres­i­dent Richie McI­nall’s part­ner, Sharon, pre­sent­ing the prizes.

The wint e r so­cial pro­gramme kicks off with a Hal­lowe’en cabaret act, Brian Le Viel, on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 31.

On Novem­ber 14, cabaret act Paul French will take to the stage.

The pop­u­lar monthly Squir­rel’s Quiz night will be held on Novem­ber 21 and a Sports­man’s din­ner will take place on Novem­ber 27.

In De­cem­ber, the club will see the re­turn of the fab­u­lous Blon­dell show, the Squir­rel’s Quiz night on De­cem­ber 12 and the an­nual Hog­manay party hosted by lo­cal DJ John Shep­herd.
