Test kit saved John

John Wright, 64, of Drongan, Ayrshire, received his bowel screening test in the post in September 2007 but left it in a drawer for a few weeks.

When he finally sent the completed test back, he was asked to do some more tests.

Within a matter of days, John underwent a colonoscopy and was told he had two tumours in his bowel that were then removed. He was given the all-clear but a routine check-up a year later found another tumour. John went through another operation to remove the tumour from his bowel and a six month course of chemotherapy.“If I didn’t complete the bowel home screening kit, my tumours would have continued to grow inside my bowel without me knowing.“
