The streets of Rutherglen and Cambuslang were paved with gold - literally - after a Securicor van going through the area dropped eight bags of coins out of it as it drove through the area.

Rutherglen Housing Association was“inundated”with applications for 31 flats that had just become available in the area.

A kind-hearted Cambuslang woman managed to raise £500 in a four week campaign against cerevical cancer, with the cash going towards Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary.

The former Empire Cinema in Cambuslang, which had become a haven for glue sniffers, was to be demolished.

Over £1000 was desperately needed by the Cambuslang YMCA to repair their sports pavilion after flooding damaged it.
