Po­lice in ap­peal for wit­nesses to as­sault

Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­quiries into an as­sault that took place in Ruther­glen on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 17.

A dis­tur­bance took place in­volv­ing around five to six peo­ple wear­ing hooded tops out­side But­lers Bar at the junc­tion of Black­faulds Road.

Two males were seen run­ning from the di­rec­tion of Acredyke Road onto New­field Place, into But­lers Bar, one ap­peared to be armed with a weapon.

One male was de­scribed as wear­ing a red/bur­gundy hooded top the other a black hooded top.

This dis­tur­bance con­tin­ued ,with the males in­volved run­ning be­tween New­field Place and Black­faulds Road. A short time later, around 12.05am on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 18, an in­ci­dent took place at an ad­dress in Acredyke Road which in­volved a group of five to six males at­tend­ing at this ad­dress, pos­si­bly in a white van and as­sault­ing a male and van­dal­is­ing the ve­hi­cle parked out­side.

De­tec­tive Sergeant Susie Cairns from Cam­bus­lang CID com­mented,“This was a vi­o­lent at­tack and we are ap­peal­ing for any­one that was in the area at this time who may have wit­nessed the in­ci­dent to con­tact us on 101.”
