Glencairn in for the Italian job
Glencairn went all European this week when they snapped up strikers Taddeo and Simone Sorrentino.
The Italian pair, who are uncle and nephew, had impressed in training and in friendlies.
Simone, who has experience in junior football with Pollok, had been on Glen’s radar since last season but injury held up any deal.
He recommended his nephew, who had come to Scotland for trials with senior clubs.
Boss Willie Harvey said: “They are brilliant boys and the squad have taken to them right away.
“Both their attitudes are brilliant. Simone is more laid back but Taddeo has that Latin temperament. They both bring something different.”
Glen’s Scottish Cup tie with Neilston fell foul of the rain on Saturday and Willie admitted he is keen to avoid a repeat of previous years: “The last thing we want is to go five or six weeks trying to get a cup game played. We got a good results against Maybole and we wanted to keep that going.
“We seem to be unlucky. We had problems with our park so I understand it but it’s frustrating.”
