Lang No 2: We could have won cup tussle

Cambuslang Rangers crashed out of the Scottish Cup on Saturday after a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Girvan.

The Superleague first division side had too much over the 90 minutes for the Somervell men, but Lang assistant manager Willie Dobbins reckons his side should have been leading at half-time.

Willie was in charge, with gaffer Paul McColl at a wedding, and he insisted the side performed well in the first half.

He said:“We went in 2-1 down but should really have been 4-2 up. We created probably five chances to their two and their‘keeper has pulled off some great saves. Even at 3-1 I felt we were still in it, but when the fourth went in the heads went down, and that was disappointing.

“That seems to be a problem right now. If we get a few goals behind the players lose hope we can win the game and we completely lose our discipline.

“Our players are as good as anyone’s in our league but they seem to have that flaw. You will lose games, but you can’t lose games and be embarrassed.”
